Creamy Filled Brownies

Ingredients

- 1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine
- 1/3 cup cocoa (preferably hershey's)
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup nuts, chopped finely
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 2 tablespoons butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1/2 miniature semisweet chocolate chips
Recipe
- 1 heat oven to 350 degrees.
- 2 line a 9x13 pan with foil and grease the foil.
- 3 melt the butter in a saucepan.
- 4 remove from heat.
- 5 stir in cocoa until smooth.
- 6 in a medium bowl, beat eggs and sugar until fluffy.
- 7 stir together flour, baking powder, and salt and add to egg mixture.
- 8 add cocoa mixture and vanilla.
- 9 beat until smooth and add the nuts.
- 10 spread into the pan.
- 11 bake for 13 to 15 minutes or until top springs back when lightly touched in the center.
- 12 cool completely.
- 13 make filling mixture: beat softened cream cheese, softened butter, vanilla in a bowl.
- 14 gradually add powdered sugar until of spreading consistency.
- 15 make glaze mixture: heat 1/4 cup sugar and 2 tbs water in a small saucepan until boiling.
- 16 remove from head and add chocolate mini chips.
- 17 stir until melted.
- 18 cut cooled brownie in half crosswise.
- 19 spread bottom half of brownie with creamy filling.
- 20 top with the top half of the brownie.
- 21 spread glaze over top.
- 22 cut into bars after glaze has set.
