black bottoms

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 1 (1 small) package semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/3 cup oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Recipe

  • 1 in a small bowl blend cream cheese, egg, 1/2 cup sugar, and pinch of salt well.
  • 2 stir in chocolate chips and set aside.
  • 3 in a large bowl sift flour, sugar, cocoa, salt, baking soda.
  • 4 add water, oil, vinegar, and vanilla.
  • 5 beat well.
  • 6 fill well greased and floured or lined small muffin tins 1/2 full of chocolate batter.
  • 7 top each with heaping teaspoon of cream cheese mixture.
  • 8 bake at 350 for 12 minutes.
  • 9 do not let tops turn brown.
  • 10 remove when cool.
